Learn more about our mission, values, and commitment to Tasmania’s outdoor community.
Shooting, Hunting & Outdoors Tasmania (SHO Tasmania) is the unified voice for our state’s shooters, hunters, farmers, fishers, and outdoor enthusiasts. We bring together individuals and associations who depend on, and care deeply about, Tasmania’s outdoor way of life.
Our mission is to advocate for responsible ownership, practical legislation, and the preservation of Tasmania’s proud outdoor heritage. We work constructively with legislators, agencies, and the wider community to ensure our members’ voices are heard fairly, credibly, and respectfully.
SHO Tasmania was established to unite the many associations and individuals who share a common commitment to Tasmania’s outdoor traditions. Recognizing that divided voices are weaker, we came together to create a single, powerful advocate for our community.
Today, we represent over 15 affiliated organizations spanning shooting clubs, hunting groups, conservation societies, and outdoor recreation bodies. Together, we form a credible, constructive force in the conversation around responsible outdoor practices and fair policy.
Building strong connections across Tasmania’s outdoor community. We believe that unity and collaboration are essential to achieving our shared goals and protecting our way of life.
Championing safe, lawful, and responsible practices as a cornerstone of our community. We advocate for policies that respect responsible ownership while protecting public safety.
Engaging constructively with legislators to ensure laws are evidence-based, fair, and practical. We believe that sound policy comes from informed dialogue and mutual respect.
Protecting Tasmania’s natural landscapes, sustainable hunting traditions, and the outdoor heritage we’re proud to pass on to future generations.
